Christmas 2019

UK Konkans' 15th Christmas party sets the sparkle for the festive season

UK Konkans celebrated their annual Christmas Party for the 15th consecutive year with a full house on 8 December 2019 at the Addlestone Community Center. It was a beautiful day made even better by friends and members of UK Konkans who came from far and wide to celebrate this event together.

The stage decor was impressive and handmade table center pieces created a WOW factor as the guest entered the halls. Guest took photos at the photo studio made available.

Tom and Shanthi along with young debutant MCs Glenston and Danica introduced the upcoming program which was very well planned and executed. President Alice D’Souza welcomed the guests and kicked off the celebrations.

DJ Ashley led the guest in Christmas carols which got everyone in Christmas spirit. This was followed by a Nativity play by Eshan, Ashylyn, Calvin, Aiden, Diyona, Riya, Lia, Aviya, Aaron, Arwin, Ashton and adults singers which depicted the nativity of our Lord. What a perfect way to commence this year’s Christmas celebration!

The stage was then set alight with fantastic performances, solo dance by Calvin and group dance by Ashlyn, Aviya, Diyona and Lia. A bible skit by Violet and her team provided us with a good message for the season of love and caring.

A group dance by young stars of UK konkans Cony, Ethan, Kristian, Keagan and Zoe got the cheers from the crowd.

This year UK Konkans chosen charity for Christmas was Susheg Charitable Trust, details of which can be found here. Kevin led a Kuswar auction which was generously bid by Dr Cyprian Mendonca and Dr Robin Correa. Kuswar sale and generous individual contributions helped us raise a total of GBP 1001, all of which will be sent to Susheg Jivith. A big THANK YOU for your generosity and to the Kuswar making team who took time out of their busy lives to support a worthy cause.

A well-laid sumptuous buffet was then opened to the guests. Thomas D’Souza led the guest in grace before meals. The guests enjoyed home made Mangalorean cuisine dishes such as Pork baffat and Sanna along with biryani raita and chicken tandoori and salad which was followed by ice cream. Lunch time entertainment was provided with songs sung Eric, Sylvester, Gratian, Shanti and Cony performed on Guitar.

Brother/Sister duo Aaron and Aviya performed with Aviya singing beautiful Konkani song.

Danica and Glenston led all the little children dance to the tune of a hymn Little Light of Mine dance.

Of course no Christmas party goes by without Santa making his appearance. The children screamed in glee seeing him. He had lots of goodies for the kiddies. Santa said he thoroughly enjoys visiting the UK Konkans party as it is so much fun!

Leon took the stage for the 3rd year running and his comedy timing had laughter fill the air.

Tom, Eric, Alice and Sylvester presented a skit called Parish Priest which the guest loved.

Lavita, Carina, Pramila, Noori and Diyona were onstage with gorgeous sarees, bangles and even goggles and presented a traditional south Indian dance performance .

This was followed by an energetic Bollywood dance performance by Beena, Charlotte, Shanti, Gratian and Kevin.

A vote of thanks to all our guest by Clara and hamper and prize distribution concluded the main events. This year, the fully loaded gorgeous hamper was won by Maria Snarski and there were many follow on prizes.

A special thank you to our sponsors Lobo family, Peter D’sa and Shekhar for rice bags.

DJ Ashely had everyone jumping and grooving on the dance floor enjoying the Christmas party. Guest danced to the tunes both old and new till they could dance no more!!! The party ended with a dance session followed by Mangalorean Baila. All left very satisfied and with heaps of praises to the organisers for bringing out such a lovely program.

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones from all of us at UK KONKANS!!
